A Note to Chinese and International Readers
Welcome to readers who’ve come here via Fairy Fish’s nice review of the Mimbo theme. I’d like to clarify some of what Fairy Fish wrote (translated by Google):
“Mimbo it is not a very good word, I do not know why the author should use this word. Should a relative term Bimbo. Mimbo described as a simple-minded man developed limbs. Bimbo described as a woman with chest big brain”
You have my promise that “mimbo” (male bimbo) is not considered an offensive word to English-speakers — it’s actually a joke from the television show Seinfeld. Remember that the original magazine concept was an exercise in building layouts similar to Maxim or Stuff, publications with a potentially mimbo-heavy readership.
All I know is that most of what I read via Google Translate is so mangled, I wouldn’t be surprised if it touched off many international incidents. DarrenHoyt.com does not condone international incidents, nor gender bias on the basis of developed limbs or big brains. Please excuse anything else, future or past, which has been lost in translation — I know not what I say, and neither does Google Translate.

Got it.
Thank you for your share.
This is just a misunderstanding. He is only because of lack of understanding of local life.
First of all, I’d like to make it clear that I’m absolutely not Sexism. I did mention these two words in my post introducing your theme simply because I had a misunderstanding that they were offensive and I was a little bit confused why you’ve named your theme this way, cause I don’t believe such a beautiful theme deserves an offensive name. I looked up to Wiki and find they refers to a type of people who are body-impressive but brain-optional, right? Now I know it’s obviously a joke. So the whole thing was a misunderstanding. My apology for any possible offence.
It’s okay guys — I’m glad you understand the “Mimbo” name was not meant to offend. It’s easy to have misunderstandings from 10,000 miles away when we don’t speak the same language. I mainly thought it was funny because “Google Translate” often creates more confusion than clarity.
just to add to Darren’s comment. The term “Mimbo” is just a joke word created by one of the most popular and funny TV comedies in the USA.
There is clearly no offense intended.
Thanks for your understanding, Darren. Anyway your theme is perfect!
It looks someting wrong with your mimbo 2.1.
I didn’t even realise the word existed… ;) I’ve learnt something for the day!
It’s a bit like the word “moobs”. A contraction of the phrase “male boobs”. While not generally considered offensive, it didn’t sit well with this man in my local pub whom I refered to as having “large moobs”.
