There’s plenty happening in the world right now, from WWIII brinkmanship to climate change to economic shifts throughout Europe and Asia. Let’s look at the shortlist of what CNN considers need-to-know information for Dec 5, 2007:
Their “Latest News” blurb has become a perfect storm of sensationalism and non-sequiturs and I feel guilty every time I visit. I vaguely remember CNN having credibility during my childhood, but that’s feeling like a very, very long time ago. I think this post will be the first of many.
Popularity: 1% [?]
I wonder if that was automated, or if a human put it there in that space. I think it’s a great headline, though I don’t think I’d ever need to do more than read the headline. I would certainly put that story above the Brad Pitt acting story.
It’s indeed a memorable headline. I give credit to the meatball they’ve hired to put up headlines, too — he’d have to condense each one so it doesn’t wrap to the next line. It’s the art of brevity.
